Pontoon barge, working platform and fall arrest – 3 in one winning solution.
Site access for major civils projects often proves to be problematic in city centers, however using the river to bring equipment to site is a simple solution to avoid congestion in busy streets.
Our client undertaking remediation works in Bristol, needed to scaffold a building on the River Avon, a working platform would double up as a debris and personnel fall arrest. Moving all of the equipment to site by road was a logistical issue due to temporary traffic management and issues with council permissions. With harbour master permissions for launch our solution saved time and was simple, we built a 13 x 6 m double layered pontoon barge to transport all access materials to site. Two work boats piloted the barge 2 miles to Finzels Reach where the pontoon was reconfigured as a working platform and fall arrest system.
