Scope of works
BBP needed to scaffold two buildings in Finzels Reach on the River Avon in Bristol for remediation works. The location of the site posed access problems for HGVs travelling through the busy city centre.
There was also a need for a debris fall arrest below the scaffold to ensure the water course would not become contaminated during the works.
Solution
Pontoonworks identified a suitable launch point approximately 2 miles from site. A modular barge was constructed with full edge protection and deployed.
6 tons of scaffold equipment was lifted on for transportation, it was manoeuvred to site by a workboat and formed a working platform. As for all of our installations, the design of the barge was supported by full stability calculations. Additional pontoon units were transported to form a 45m x 2.5m debris fall arrest and working platform.
