Pontoonworks  have been awarded the contract to support the principle Contractor, Interserve Construction, with the provision of pontoon access for the Poole Bridge refurbishment project.  As a marine specialist subcontractor we have installed a 450m² modular pontoon to provide a working platform and fall arrest system for debris and personnel and steel pontoon for plant.  Built in 1927, Poole Bridge will be closed for the duration of the extensive works to replace the approach spans, supporting piles and abutments in this £4.7 million project.

M.D.  Chris Murphy said, “Shortly after we established Pontoonworks, Interserve hired us to provide a 320m² modular barge to transport the structural frame for Victoria Bridge in Hereford to site.  The project was a major win for our fledgling business and we have continued to support this client on a number of projects since.  We are delighted to have been awarded this contract and look forward to working on this historic site in our native Dorset.”

Pontoonworks provided their services to Hochtief in 2014 on the construction of the Twin Sails Bridge in Poole.  The versatile modular pontoon played a key role in the project, providing walk to work access to the construction site for the entire duration of the project.
